Good Fun at a Good Price, but Ride Their Bus

We just went to Aquapiper (July 2009) with our three small kids (2,4,6). Getting there is the hard part. Their website is in Italian only, and four sets of different directions (we don't have a car so #3 was out) were a little confusing for us. We tried to go by direction #1, which was to catch the Metro B toward Ribibbia, get off at Ponte Mammolo and catch the Cotral bus for a 50 minute ride to Aquapiper. DO NOT TRY THIS. It is a long story which resulted in very one very tired, lost and frustrated family. We were ultimately successful, but got only a couple of hours at the park. Even so it was worth it (we went on a weekday, not the weekend, so it was comfortably busy not packed). The park itself is large and nice on the inside. There are lots of tables, chairs and loungers. Food, treats, souvenirs, towels, shoes, etc are for sale, there are bathrooms, showers, and private outdoor change compartments (look for the blue doors). The little kids loved three of the pools (one with special little kid slides - best for the 4 & 6 yr old, although other toddlers liked it, mine didn't; the wave pool, and a splashing pool). All the pools have a very shallow part at least on one side and so we didn't feel limited. We only tried a couple of the big slides, but liked them. There were tons of older kids here, but there must have been other areas for them because we didn't really see them. I would call this a very good value and would highly recommend it - only make sure to catch THEIR complimentary bus which apparently runs to the park from the Repubblica Metro stop (from the piazza) in the morning and takes about an hour and drops you off right at the Aquapiper entrance. It also picks you up just outside the park entrance and returns you to the same piazza. This is the most comfortable bus we rode in Rome (since we caught it to go home), with nice seats and real air conditioning, but ask about return hours as it seemed to run every two hours (on the half hour, ex: 5:30 and 7:30) but that we just our experience and may change.
