Holiday Hills Resort & Golf Club

My husband is a golf fanatic, so I knew golf would have to be one of the options to choose from when we did a timeshare tour at Festiva Resorts. Nevertheless, we took Silver Dollar City (for me) and Holiday Hills Golf (for him).

Holiday Hills Golf Course was not far from where we were staying, Big Cedar Wilderness Club. This golf course was conveniently located, yet out of the way, if that makes any sense. Upon first arrival, I knew my husband would like playing here. It was very well laid out and seemed to be maintained with proper and nurturing care.

Since we had two "free" tickets and I don't play golf, I've opted to drive the cart while he played, which took care of the second ticket. In spite of my driving the cart, we still had to wait for more players. Holiday Hills Golf is pretty strict on their tee times, so make sure you arrive early.

Once we had three players to our party, we were ready to "play ball." Per my husband, "the golf course seemed to be for intermediate and advance players. The skill level for this course had quite a few challenging holes but was well laid out. The views were extremely nice and I wouldn't hesitate to play here again."

The staff at this golf course was kind, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The on-site golf shop had wonderful souvenirs, but it was a bit pricey, as golf shops usually are.

All in all, it was a perfect and memorable day for playing golf in Missouri. Another success!

This is the old Branson--a course on the east side of the river built in 1938 by a pro from Chicago who fell in love with the area and the land. It has some neat history, which is showcased in the pro shop and is an enjoyable, unpretentious, and reasonably priced place to play.

The terrain here is relatively flat for Branson. It was expanded to 18 holes and rebuilt about 10 years ago. With the exception of two holes (11 and 12, I believe), the course is traditional, fair, and pleasant. Some holes run through the woods, others are fairly open, and a few have water in play. It's par 68/slope 118 and very playable.

We ended up here on Friday afternoon, looking for a place to play 18 as the sun set. The twilight fee was $29, and we got 16 holes in after teeing off at 4:30pm. We enjoyed it so much that we skipped some other options to come back and play for $29 the next afternoon, figuring we'd be spending the big bucks at Branson Creek to finish up the next day.

The course is average in length and level of difficulty. It is a good course to play to sharpen your game if it is rusty, as it is open daily. There are ample opportunities to lose a ball, and water may collect a couple of your shots. You will not get to use your long irons/fairway woods if you hit a decent tee shot, as only a couple of holes are long enough for that.

The course is fairly open, so a wayward tee shot will not hurt you on most holes. The par three 14th is a pretty and challenging hole with a severe drop with danger all around.

Houses around the course, thankfully, will not be a hazard except for the very worst of bad shots.

From journal a "good deal" get-1 way
