Hirano Takkyu (Table-tennis) Center

Description

Hirano Table Tennis Center, south of Kinkakuji, is one of the few remaining traditional table tennis clubs in the city. Nowadays tables are found in most game centers surrounded by noisy video games. Hirano is still a place devoted solely to the sport of table tennis at which the Japanese excel with more than their share of world champions. Prices to play in the quiet and relaxed wooden environment are JPY1,300 a table an hour on weekdays and JPY1,500 on Sundays and public holidays or JPY450 per person an hour plus JPY50 for a paddle. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm onwards you can see the local club showing you how it is done.
