The sun is very intense so be sure to reapply sunscreen OFTEN. I was burned the first day and spent the rest of the trip hiding in the shade of a hut.
As far as activities, all non-motorized sports are free (volleyball, kayaks...). Anything motorized is an additional charge. You can keep your costs to a minimum by sticking to the free activities. There are plenty to keep you from getting bored. The parasailing did look like lots of fun though!
A snack shop with pizza, nachos, sandwiches, and other snacks is at either end of the beach. One end also has a crepe restaurant (okay but the crepes were too thick and chewy for my taste).
