Day trips for visitors might include boats and 4-wheel vehicles. Our trip included a stop at the home of one of the guides where his family served lunch to our small group. That was an interesting change from the hotel buffet. We walked through small villages and drove extensively into rural preserves. In these areas, we saw few signs of overt poverty and noticed that school facilities were commonplace. Costa Ricans enjoy better health and education systems than other countries in the region.
