Upon arrival, I was suprised to be walking in on the beginning of an organ recital, which was free and very beautiful. Be sure to look on the website, www.cathedral.org, for information on concerts and tours, or call (202) 537-6200.
Look for the moon rock in one of the stained-glass windows on the right side of the nave or for the gargoyle outside with the head of Darth Vader (I wasn't able to find it, but I'm told that it does exist!).

Helen Keller is entombed here and a rock from the moon is even incorporated into the decor. There are many interesting facts to be learned and tour guides are available to enlighten you. The grounds are well kept.
If you like visiting the old cathedrals of Europe, you should make the National Cathedral a stop right here in the United States.
