Description: The north of Belgium, flat as it is, offers an excellent environment for ballooning. Bruges, being the fairytale town that it is, offers an excellent environment for fairytale things like...well, ballooning. Perfect.
I admit I'd been wanting to try ballooning for a while (what? you DIDN'T?), so I didn't really need to be sold on the idea. Neither did my girlfriend, who loves this kind of thing. But this only means that when I finally went to Brugges, I actively sought after the ballooning experience and I did my homework.
Christophe is a professional with countless hours in the air, many different environments and he truly knows that balloon, the winds in the area, the terrain, and also, most of the farmers since he takes off and lands on their fields. He's safe and fun, personable and an excellent tour guide.
Ballooning is not as cheap as, say, climbing all the steps in the Belfry (which you should do, by the way), but it's cheaper than you'd think and you get to see Brugges from a height you simply couldn't reach any other way. And with Christophe, it's worth every cent. He made the whole experience more than 'just a ride', involving us in the setup and take-down of the balloon (if we wanted) and offering us a nice surprise at the end of the trip, all with door-to-door service, a great smile, muilti-lingual assistance and a passion for gliding soundlessly through the air that is easily contagious.
Don't miss out on this trip - there's nothing quite like it.
