Most people don't stop in Bangor for much sightseeing, as it is usually a pit stop to another destination. However, if you can manage to make a stop to downtown, don't miss out on a unique shopping experience. You can't miss the Grasshopper Shop, as it's entrance is easily visible and usually has a banner hanging outside advertising their latest sale. Just walking past the store gives an aroma of welcoming fragrances. There is a variety of housewares, clothing, fine jewelry, candy, toys, cards, picture frames, incenses, and many items to pamper ones body. Tourists should take some time to filter through their array of Maine made items including jams, soaps, t-shirts, candies, cards and pottery. Don't forget to check out the basement, perfect for the young ones, where they house a variety of fun games, books and puzzles. I used to work at this store and I can say honestly I was never bored. There was always something I had never seen before and always the most unique items from Crocs to lobster shell salad servers. When here, give yourself plenty of time to mosey through.
If you miss the shop in Bangor, they are also located in Searsport, Ellsworth and Rockland.
