If you go on a ghost tour of Harpers Ferry, just make sure you go on the right tour!

A month or so ago my husband and I stayed at a B&B. The innkeepers highly reccommended that we go on a ghost tour in town. She was not aware that a new ghost tour business had opened up.

We saw the ghost tour sign at the BBQ restaurant and assumed it was the tour our inkeeper told us about. However, we were dismayed. Our guide was very unprofessional. She wore jeans and a t-shirt and the stories she told were so boring I quickly lost attention. She also seemed to lose her train of thought very quickly and stammered through most of it.

The next morning our inkeeper asked us about our tour and she was shocked by our description of it. She told us that the ghost tours had been in business for over 30 years and that she knew the owners and had always heard good things about it. After doing some investigating, she told us that we had stumbled onto a 'rip-off' tour that had just moved into town. She encouraged us to try the real thing.

At first we hesitated, so sour from our first experince, but the we changed out mind and we found the tour based out of High Street.

I am so glad that we changed our minds! This tour was simply fab! Our guide, I think her name was Emma or something, had on a gorgeous hoop skirt dress complete with hairnet, gloves, and a lantern. She told most of the stories the other lady told us, but she was MUCH better. She told the tales with such passion that she kept me on the edge of my seat. Plus, she walked us up to the catholic church, which the other lady had failed to do, and the view was amazing!

If you seek out a ghost tour in Harpers Ferry, make sure you dish out the extra $3 and take a good tour. It is well worth it!

Awesome

I have been on a few ghost tours in my life and I do believe this one is the best. Our guide was very knowledgeable in town history and she walked us around shwoing us some of the most haunted spots in town. She was a very passionate story teller and wore a gorgeous 19th century style hoop skirt.
I liked the tale of Dangerfield Newby in Hogg Alley. I reccommend this tour to anyone!
