An Ever Evolving Cafe!

Chlodna 25 is an alternative pub/club/cafe which opens each morning at 8am - serving strong coffee, sweet cakes and an array of fresh juices and beer. During WW2 there was a bridge at this location seperating two Jewish ghettos, the street continuing past the cafe has little going for it and has seemingly never recovered from its ghetto days as it hosts a mixture of mechanics, dodgy knocking shops, a scrap yard and some cheap greasy spoon type places. Chlodna 25 on the other end, is just a little seperated from the rest of the remainder of the street and its no wonder that this place has been racking up the awards in recent years.

Unfortunately with the acquirement of awards, the prices have risen but the food, service and clientelle still very much remain the same. Here you can find an odd mixture of people from local business heads from the skyscraper at the end of the street, to high-school students sneaking in there for a coffee and a crafty fag, arty types, expats and the occasional dog.

Being a beer drinker rather than coffee drinker, I can't judge the coffee too much but it has a good name and the smell is tempting even to a non-coffee drinker. The prices starting at 9zl for a beer have risen by 50% over the last couple of years but it's still not too prohibitive and sometimes it is worth paying a little more for a nice atmosphere. The cafe has wifi, it is interestingly decorated with wild art and spiral steel stairs which lead to a club in the evening and a place of meetings during the day. Chlodna 25 (which also happens to be its address) is very much at the forefront of cultural events, liberal political gatherings and in particular recycling and sensible consumerism.

All of this makes the cafe, a rather forward thinking enjoyable place with an enjoyable atmosphere and an especially pleasant few tables outside to while away the hours in the summer.
