Kayaking, a Great Thing to Do in Bar Harbor Maine

We went out with this tour company this summer and agree with the first review. We had a great trip and it was the highlight of our time there. We almost booked with a different company but they were actually rude (or at least not very friendly) to us on the phone so we backed out and went with this one. We are glad we did and even though we didn't know this at the time we booked the tour but their groups have a size limit that is apparently half of some of the other tour companies.
We learned a lot about the ocean and lobster fishing and the islands were incredible.

Sea Kayaking in Bar Harbor, Maine Is Great!

Our trip with Acadia Park Kayak Tours was great. We really like that that they keep their groups small and our guide was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the area and the ocean and lobsters and anything we could think to ask.
The Porcupine Islands are beautiful. I think kayaking in the fog made them even more beautiful, like being in some dream world. We were nervous at first but the guide obviously knew what he was doing and the boats were easy to use and once we were in them for a while we realized that they would could not tip over easily.
Next time we are going to try one of the night tours.
Visit their website at http://www.acadiaparkkayak.com to get all the info.
I am going to paste a description of all the different things this company does from their website because they do some neat things.

Frenchman's Bay is the body of water off the coast of Bar Harbor, Maine on Mount Desert Island where Acadia National Park is located. We offer sunrise, morning, day, sunset, evening, and private tours. Tour group sizes are limited to six people or less making ours the smallest groups in the area. A special emphasis is placed on eco-friendly business practices and 5% of profits are donated to ocean conservation. No former kayaking experience is required and all necessary equipment is provided. A Registered Maine Guide leads all tours.

One of the Best Times Ever! Acadiaparkkayak.com

This past summer I went up to Mount Desert Island with my friend Annie to attend a beer festival. Annie happens to have a friend in Bar Harbor who owns a sea kayak touring business called Acadia Park Kayak Tours. He took us out on a beautiful tour of the Porcupine Islands in Frenchman's bay.
I was a little nervous at first but he really made me feel confident I could do it.
We saw a school of porpoises, a seal, and a bald eagle. The Porcupine Islands were ruggedly beautiful with their awe inspiring sea cliffs. We stopped on an island and ate lunch.
I have to admit that I didn't pay for the trip because he was my friends friend but as I understand it he usually charge forty dollars for the three and a half hour tours which he says are the lowest prices in the area. I would have paid a lot more than forty dollars for the experience I had.
I was just checking out his website (acadiaparkkayak.com) and it says that he keeps his group sizes to a maximum of six which is smaller than any other outfitter's groups. I wouldn't know since our tour was Private :) .
He gave us these these wetsuit mittens that went over our paddles and protected our hands. The water was cold and my hands would have been numb without them. He says that he is the only guide on the Island that he knows of to provide them which doesn't make any sense to me because I would have been miserable without them.
I was really impressed by how far he goes to have his business be eco-friendly. He gets his kayaks down to the beach on a bike trailer, provides drinking water in reusable glass containers, and gives five percent of his profits to ocean conservation charities.
If you ever read this thanks again for the amazing tour!
