Description
Located in upcountry Waimea which is about 2,500 feet above sea level, this course is cool and can get damp. This small course provides excellent views of both the ocean and Mauna Kea. The course is a great golf escape where you will find beautiful greens, a nice driving range and beautiful vistas. This is not your typical Hawaiian resort course like the Francis I'i Brown Course at Mauna Lani or the Hualalai Golf Course at the Four Seasons Hualalai. It was built on pasture lands and is wide open, yet there are many Ironwood trees that can affect your shots. The front nine is not as hilly as the back nine. The course is small and steep and you will not find crowds here at the Waimea Country Club. It can get chilly here on this side of the island (and it can rain), so bring a sweater and a raincoat. The driving range is a lot of fun to practice on but it can get damp when the fog rolls in or when it begins to rain. Their standard rates are $95 for green/cart fees (18 holes, non-resident and weekdays only) and their club rentals are $35 (18 holes). If you are coming from Waimea continue on Route 19 for another 10-15 minutes (six miles) until you see the Country Club on your left. If you are coming from Hilo continue on Route 19 and drive 60-75 minutes. You will see Waimea Country Club on the right from the highway. There is a snack bar that serves hot and cold beverages, light snacks, and a few hot snacks, etc The club house is open from 7:30am - 5:00pm. I would recommend coming to this course if you want to golf on a unique course that is located in beautiful Waimea.
