Went whale watching with my roomies this past week out in Newport and had a great time. We showed up a little early, bought tickets, and then went over to one of the bars in walking distance and had ourselves a little drink before boarding the boat.
Once aboard we were introduced to the captain and crew over the speaker and throughout the trip they were telling us all about different types of whales and dolphins they see. We ended up seeing a bunch of dolphins that jumped and played alongside the boat. Very exciting. They also had coronas on the boat, which was also very exciting. It was a real fun trip and we all agreed we should come back.

Went out here a little while ago with my 10 year old son on a half day trip form 9-3. There were hardly any other people on the boat I guess because it was a weekday. Pretty much everyone on board ended up catching like 10-15 of this weird fish called a sculpin and probably like 5 bass a piece. We were throwin 'em in. Alot of fun. Son got hooked and can't wait to go back.

Went fishing out there yesterday on a half day trip. It went from 9am to 3pm. There were only about 15 of us on board this great big boat. It was great. We had lots of room so our lines didn't get snagged and we could move around easily. We dropped anchor and dropped our lines down and didn't have to wait too long to catch something. I guess what we called was called a sculpin. We were all bringing them in every 5 minutes or so. Some people were catching bass too I guess. I didn't care what i was catching I just new it was fun getting so many bites. Way fun.

Went on a one day overnighter earlier this month. The boat went out to Catalina fishing for yellowtail and tuna. Had a really good time sitting out in the sun, drinking some beer and fishing all day on the open ocean. It was beautiful. In the end we would up catching about 15 yellowtail and an assortment of other fish. Those yellows sure put up a fight.

Me, my roommate and our friend just went whale watching last Thursday. We live pretty close to Newport and go there all the time. We were having some drinks at Newport Landing's restaurant and walked past there whale watching sign and noticed that they'd been seeing a lot of blue whales so we stopped in to talk to them about it. They said their next cruise was at 3 that day and gave us a coupon so we went. The water was a little rough that day and that made the boat ride really fun. We had a contest to see who could keep their balance the longest without having to grab the railing (I won!). The trip didn't start out so great to be honest. We saw a whale spout, but then we never saw him surface, so after about 20 minutes of waiting we went in search of more whales. We found one shortly after and it was be-utiful! It was huge, it stayed pretty close to the surface so we stayed with it for a while and watched it swim and breach. Unbelievable. Soon it was time to go back in, so the captain turned us around and on the way back in we saw 3 more whales! SUCH a great trip. If you are ever in the area take the time to do this.
