ANWR - Stunning, Serene and Truly Wild

I backpacked in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in June 2008. It's about 8-9 hours north of Fairbanks, Alaska off the mostly-gravel Dalton Highway which follows the Alaska Pipeline up to Prudhoe Bay and the Arctic Ocean. ANWR is the defnition of remote -- and offers stunning and other-worldy arctic tundra, mountains, rivers, and all ranges of flora and fauna. Backpacking here is a once in a lifetime experience.
