My Favorite Shop in Assisi with Irresistable Treats

Each time I go to Assisi, I head for La Bottega dei Sapori. I'm a "Foodie" and here I can spoil myself. This visit, as we came in, the proprietor offered to make us up a tray of things to sample and we happily agreed. She made croutons with various dips, such as a pureed carrot spread and a delicious artichoke dip. And there were meats and cheeses. But we were also checking out each shelf where we were finding chocolate-flavored pasta, local lentils, specialty olive oils and vinegars, and dolci (sweets). I couldn't resist the orange-flavored pasta which I used for an extra special shrimp scampi when I got home. Try this shop and you will be sure to go home with something wonderful.

My Favorite Shop in Assisi

I've been to Assisi several times and always like to visit this shop in the main square in town. The owners are so friendly and helpful and will be happy to fix up a plate of delicious items to taste that they offer for sale. The local oils and balsamic vinegars are wonderful and also the pastas. The last time there I bought orange-flavored pasta which I used with a shrimp scampi recipe. I was tempted also by the chocolate-flavored pasta, but left that for another time. I always like to buy the local tiny lentils and I fell for the carrot mixture for bruschetta toppings. These are wonderful treats to take home to remember our trip by.
