Description: I always shop at Wal-Mart in Hilo (located across the street from the Prince Kuhio Shopping Plaza) for all of my shopping needs. I used to shop at the Prince Kuhio Shopping Plaza for different things at the numerous shops at the mall but now I shop at Wal-Mart. This is not the superstore Wal-Mart that you find on the mainland since it does not have a large grocery section but it has the usual men and women's clothing departments, electronic department, craft department, toy section, etc. The prices are great and other stores can't compete with Wal-Mart's low prices. It can get crowded at Wal-Mart, especially during the weekend when the parking lot gets full. I usually buy all of my toiletries, snacks, and electronics at this Wal-Mart since Hilo doesn't have a lot of other electronic goods stores. Their electronics department is great and you can find everything from flat-screen tv's to name brand computers in this section at competitive prices. The employees are very nice and there are many cashiers working during the day to speed up the long lines. There is a McDonald's near the entrance as well as a Wal-Mart Vision Center next to McDonald's. My son sees Dr. Grant Miyashiro to get yearly eye exams. Dr. Miyashiro's office is conveniently located on the left side of the Wal-Mart store. I really enjoy shopping at this Wal-Mart location since it is close to other shops that are within 5 minutes walking distance such as Ross Dress for Less Clothing Store, Office Max, Borders Bookstore, Starbucks, Supercuts, and the Waiakea Food Court. I would definitely recommend coming to this Wal-Mart to buy food and other items since the prices are very competitive. This is also a great place for passengers from the Pride of America cruise ship to stop at to purchase bottled water and other food items.
