Cabildo Museum

Inside the El Cabildo there’s a museum, what most called my attention was the National Coat of Arms, which dated from 1825. It’s oval-shaped, it’s divided in four parts, and on top of it there’s a rising sun. Each part of the oval has a different meaning:
- The balance means equality and justice
- Montevideo’s hill means strength
- The horse means freedom
- The ox means abundance
It also depicts many other features such as antique arms, hand-written books, wardrobes, pianos, and many, many more, which shows the quality of arts and crafts developed in our country at the time.
It’s a memorable example of the old time arquitecture. Overall, it’s worth your while.
