Palau Pacific Resort

Description

Palau Pacific is the only "resort" accommodations on the island. The resort is located close to the downtown strip of Koror and is ideally situated on one of the only private, swimmable beach on the main island. The hotel has free-flowing, airy, island architecture with high ceilings and stunning views that face towards the sunset. Although built in the mid-1980s, Palau Pacific feels much newer, with updated appliances and impeccable cleanliness. The staff is all very friendly, always smiling. The resort also has a smallish oceanfront pool that is generally filled with rambunctious children, tennis courts (although for a Californian used to a temperate client, the combo of heat and humidity was too much for court play) and a mini-gym that has all the necessary machines, albeit small in number. Rooms are airy, all include balconies that look out onto the ocean or lagoon, which has giant sea turtles! I would strongly recommend Palau Pacific for families (swimmable beach, pool and the water activities are key for young ones) and anyone looking for larger-scale hotels and resorts that can offer the amenities all the smaller ones can't. Be prepared to pay resort-style prices though, particularly when you add in meals, which aren't included and breakfast is hard to turn away when it's right there and dive boats come to the dock to pick you up in the a.m. The price is a bit steep though, although the continental breakfast buffet is a scrumptious treat pre-dive trips.
