Description: After swimming at the beach at Quickwater Pier, I wanted something cold before heading back to my sister's house. I headed over to
Alvin's Island Tropical Department Store at the end of the pier since they have a little ice cream stand that sells Hershey's Ice Cream and other cold delights along with a big variety of souvenirs and t-shirts. I got a coffee mocha smoothie for $3.70 and decided to wander around the store to get some t-shirts for friends and family in Idaho.
Alvin's has huge variety of t-shirts, sweatshirts, baseball hats, knick knacks, and coffee mugs. The prices are pretty reasonable, and I noticed that Alvin's had shelves with t-shirts of various prices. I concentrated on the $12.99 or 2/$12 shelves for t-shirts after being unsatisfied with the $9.99 shelf of t-shirts. Even extra-large t-shirts on that shelf looked really small and the quality was questionable to me.
However, the more expensive shelves of t-shirts looked a little more promising, and I spent a good 15-20 minutes finding t-shirts for Mom, Karla, and me. I settled on three t-shirts with the same Pensacola Beach, Florida logo in olive green, burgundy, and navy blue print on white backgrounds. After getting the shirts, I looked some more and went to pay. The young lady at the register was from Eastern Europe (most of the employees hailed from there from what I could see and hear) was very nice, and my three t-shirts came to $41.61 with the 7.5% sales tax.
Happy with my purchases, I headed to Erika's car for the long ride home. Alvin's also has a huge variety of beach supplies, towels, and for those who left their cameras at home, disposable cameras for you to buy. Alvin's is very popular with the tourists to Quickwater Pier, and it can be very crowded on the weekends, but it's a short stop for all who visit Pensacola Beach, Florida.
