Trader Joe's

Trader Joe's is located in Orange, CT just past the Milford town line in a convenient shopping center. This store specializes in natural organic foods to assist you in keeping up with a healthy lifestyle, but the prices are not what you would expect. Typically, one would find that organic foods are slightly more expensive than non-organic foods, but this certainly is not the case with Trader Joe’s . In fact, although Trader Joe's is not located near my home, I have begun to do more and more of my grocery shopping here because the prices are lower than the large chain grocery stores near my home. In addition to the reasonable prices, you will also see that they carry a large selection of unique products, including just about any sauce you can imagine! (A couple good buys to mention are that a liter of EVOO is $5.99 versus $9.99 and up at other stores, and that the fresh produce is all individually priced, and is much cheaper than at my local grocery store, Super Stop & Shop).

Upon entering the store, you are greeted with the aroma of flowers, which are nicely arranged and kept at the front door available for purchase. Creatively, the shopping carts are also equipped with wire "vases" to hold your flowers while you shop. You will find that if you go to Trader Joe's for one item, you will leave with a basket full, as the shelves are always full and nicely arranged, and the store is always neat and clean. Also, don't skip over the aisles that you think you won't need to buy from, as the merchandising is creative, and there are often hidden gems that you will miss if you don't peruse each aisle. (I almost missed the chocolate covered sunflower seeds that were shelved above the Asian selection of frozen foods!)

Trader Joe's carries a selection of health and beauty products, with "Kiss My Face" as its featured brand, as well as paper products and pet products. I often stop by Trader Joe's on my way to work to pick up a pre-made sandwich or salad to have for lunch, or some fruit. The last time I did this the pre-made pizza dough caught my eye at 99 cents a piece, and I decided homemade pizza was in order for dinner that night! I was also able to find pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, and pepperoni to make the pizza dinner complete, and spent less than $10 on this meal to feed a family of four! This has now become a weekly tradition in our household.

With great customer service, plentiful stocked shelves and customer friendly affordable pricing, Traders Joe’s is on the top of our list for favorite places to shop.
