Kosciol sw. Katarzyny (St. Catherine's Church) is not only the oldest parish church in Gdansk; it is also the site where a collection of tower clocks from the Muzeum Historyczne Miasta Gdanska (Historical Museum of Gdansk) is on display. Muzeum Zegarow Wiezowych (the Museum of Tower Clocks) is housed, appropriately enough, in the church's tower on several levels. The space is dim and atmospheric, the clock mechanisms on display are truly wonderous for their workings as well as their histories, and the constant ticking that permeates the space is strangely calming, although occasionally it is interrupted by louder chiming. Adult mission to the museum is 4 zl., but I recommend paying an extra fee of 3 zl. for access to the carillon and viewing platform on top of the tower. The panorama of the Old Town seen from here is prettier, in my opinion, than that visible from St. Mary's Church's tower.
