Description: Sunlight Rock
If this attraction were located anywhere else in Xiamen besides Gulangyu Island, it would be hailed as "must-see." However, because of the island's non-stop eye lures, it tends to be forgotten. Nevertheless, it warrants attention, especially for its panoramic gasps. The rock extends 300 feet high offering visitors views of Xiamen, the South China Sea, and Taiwan's Jinmen Island
Piano Garden
Nestled directly across from Sunlight Rock, this small museum pays nod to Gulangyu Island's long love affair with the piano. Despite the island's diminutive size, it ranks number one in China for piano ownership per person and is the hometown of famous Chinese pianist Xu Feiping. More than 40 old pianos from different periods and different nations fill the museum. The entire complex maintains a musical theme with such names as Melody Square, Lingering Sound Gate and Harmonious Music Building.
Zheng Cheggong
A huge granite statue pays tribute to Zheng Chenggong, Xiamen's favorite historical figure. This memorial immortalizes the life of Zheng Chenggong whose life has taken on a mythical status. Some label him as a brutish pirate who waged war on the popular Qing dynasty, while others praise him as a local hero for expelling the Dutch from Taiwan in 1662. Regardless of what he was or what he did, this hall champions his military exploits. Historical relics are many and include swords, stone inscriptions, a bronze cannon, and even a jade belt worn by Chenggong.
