Okay, I’ll admit it: I’m a sucker for kitsch! When I first saw previews of Madame Tussaud’s wax museum on a television show, I immediately wanted to visit. I had never been to any of the other locations that this Museum has worldwide (NY City and London are two that come to mind), as I had been previously convinced by others that they were tourist traps. In Las Vegas there was nobody to stop me though, so it made the list of attractions I had to see.

Whoever thought Madame Tussaud’s is just for tourists might be right, but they also are missing out on a ton of fun. As soon as I entered the museum I was greeted by three of my favorite celebrities; Johnny Depp, Hugh Hefner, and the Rock. It only got better from there.

At Madame Tussaud’s, patrons are encouraged to touch and interact with the wax figures of their favorite celebrities. This is very different from other touristy wax museums that have a strict "no-touching" policy. Bring a camera if you go- you might not be able to get this close to your favorite celebrities again!

Madame Tussaud’s has several generic stand-alone wax figures, but also has very elaborate layouts involving certain celebrities that encourage visitor-interaction. You can pose with Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer as you putt beside them on a practice green. You can put on a one-size-fits-all wedding dress and pose with a tuxedoed George Clooney (complete with annulled marriage license). You can lie in a bed and drink pretend champagne as you doff you bunny ears next to Hugh Hefner.

There was a slightly weird "wax museum of terror" exhibit within the museum that basically sent patrons through a maze to be frightened by actors and wax figures that jumped out along the way. This was definitely cheesy and reminded me of the haunted hayrides my neighborhood used to put on for Halloween (perhaps the hayride was more professionally done though). I would probably skip this part if I went to Madame Tussaud’s again.

Celebrities in the wax museum are separated by specific talent or time period. Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, and Dean Martin all hang out in the room with Marilyn Monroe. Beyonce, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson all serenade and "work" the dance floor in their respective section. Sigfried and Roy and Elvis are both at the end of the tour and remind patrons that this is distinctly Vegas!

I loved Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. It was so much fun posing for pictures with my favorite famed wax-castings and I must say it was possibly the best way that I could think of for quelling pre-wedding jitters. There are several coupon books for tourists offering a few bucks off admission, but I do believe it was worth the full adult admission of $24/person. There aren’t too many things that are cheaper in Vegas that are more fun and could be suitable for the whole family.

This museum is awesome! It has celebrities from Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Bush, and Prince, to Oprah, Beyonce, and Britney Spears. They are all very life like and the rooms are spacious and set up so that you can take pictures with your favorites. Some of them even sing for you. Normal price is around $25/adult but I found a 2 for 1 coupon on www.lasvegas-
