Full sightseeing tour of Peterhof requires a minimum of 2-3 days, but if we look only to the palace and a park with fountains, rather than one day. In addition to the palace there are also all sorts of museums, business wit organizers who must pay tribute, but to watch all of this is impossible and too expensive. Over the entrance to every such institution are charged separately. Before the trip I was trying to find out whether you can buy a single integrated ticket for foreigners, even called them - were told that there is, and the official site too, so it is written, but at the last moment it turned out that at this time it did not sell. Would otherwise have to pay a hundred rubles instead of, say, five hundred. And so in several places at a time. In addition there are specialist museums, or in one of which I did not go as a museum, playing cards, the Imperial Museum Bicycle Museum of the Imperial yacht, and miscellaneous and other funds to pull another steward to the public. With all due respect, all these bikes with yachts and a diamond aces can be combined into a single museum, but that is not profitable ... In each of them charge a fee at retail. The same applies to several small palaces in the park, in addition to the Grand Palace.

Park is divided into two parts: the upper and lower. Divides them, in fact, the palace itself. The upper part is adjacent to the palace from the south, closer to the city, and it is more quiet. The lower part, the one where all the most famous fountains, located between the palace and the Gulf. It is because of this lower, that is, there must come down "the hill", allows the fountains operate without the use of special equipment, just as was done in the time of Peter the Great. The water just goes down from the upper reservoirs.

Fountain of Neptune, was created in Germany and was designed initially for Nuremberg, but for technical reasons it has not worked: the flow of water there was not strong enough. Paul first bought this fountain there and set in Peterhof. During the war, the Nazis took him back to Germany after the war he was again brought to Peterhof.

Palace ends with the two ends of the high wings, one of which is "under the cross," the second "under the emblem." The first in the photo, a second similar, only the top placed two-headed eagle.

We get down in the lower park, which is much larger and in which dozens of fountains.

The highest and most famous of all the fountains of the Grand Cascade - Samson tearing the lion's mouth, mounted in honor of the 25 th anniversary of Russia's victory over Sweden in the Battle of Poltava. Day of the battle coincided with the Orthodox saint's day Samsonov, so, in fact, was chosen as this statue, although originally planned to Hercules. Genuine statue, alas, was either stolen, or sawn by the Nazis during World War II, so it's post-war copy. The height of the water jet - more than 20 meters.

Go ahead through the park. Modest palace of Peter the First "Mon Plaisir". Inside survived some personal belongings of Peter, and he gathered a collection of paintings - Russia's first collection of paintings by European artists.
The rooms inside the "Monplaisir. In contrast to the large palace, the pictures are not forbidden, but my aunt asked for protection in small rooms do not stop, and pass-dimensional communist march.
