If you travel into Wailea you will mostly see nothing but large resorts and luxury shops. Here is where most tourists turn around, but travel about 1 mile more and you will find some of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in Maui. Hidden behind a 15 foot block wall, that looks like it belongs to the houses around it, is Little Makena Cove. A family member who lives in Kihei set it up with a minister friend to have us married there.
Now, I love the beach, and beaches in Hawaii are unbelievable, and maybe it was because it was my wedding day, but this is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. It is very popular with small weddings like ours, we were not the only wedding that day, because of its slightly hidden location.
But beware... as we found out 2 days later when we went back to visit our wonderful wedding beach... This is a nude beach! During the week it is very popular with locals for nude sunbathing, once again due to its secluded spot. So if you've ever wanted to know what the Hawaiian sun feels like on the areas the sun rarely shines, or have a wedding in (on the weekends) paradise, I highly recommend this beach.
