As a starting point for most Antarctica cruises, Ushuaia is a great place to start. We arrived 3 days early (it is recommended to arrive for a cruise at least 1 day early, as flights are tenuous), and via taxi, we drove around the entire area. Sights, such as Tierra Fuego National Park, the lake district, and Port Harburton were excellent. This is one of the few moments you get some cultural experiences. The Beagle Channel runs along Ushuaia with the Chilean mountains in the background. The Andes stretch all the way down here, too.
