The War Photo Limited Museum is more of a gallery. It has rotating exhibits that include large photos, video and books. You will find breathtaking and emotions photos taken by a variety of arts, of a variety of wars.
I went during the Women War Photographers exhibit (May 2nd-July 30th 2006), which featured photos from the wars in Kashmir, Afghanistan, the former Yugoslavia, Iraq, Israel and Palestine.
This museum is highly emotional. Make sure to allow yourself time to explore the whole museum, take in the photos, read the descriptions and give yourself extra time to emotionally recover. If you are sensitive to images take it slow and go with someone else. The photos are beautiful and horrifying.
I went with 2 other young travelers and we stood in shock and amazement of the photos that stood before us. Some were of death, some of morning, some of grief, some of the destitute left by war. Others looked straight into the eyes of villains, a father and son duo that proudly stood over the body of a young Croat girl they had killed.
It took me a few hours to snap out of it. I was reeling in the notion that people can carry so much hate. It was hard to stand in a city that had be destroyed (85%) by a resent war and see pictures of the victims from both sides of that was as well as other.
