Bayfield Winery

A small operation tucked away in northern Wisconsin, the Bayfield Winery feels more like a country store than a hip place to taste some fine wine.

The winery and store are located in a large red barn overlooking Lake Superior. When you enter, you'll find plenty of varieties of locally-made wine and apples. There's also a wide selection of apple-related products, like jams, dips, apple chips, and corers.

But let's get back to the real focus - the wine! The Bayfield Winery is open 7 days a week during the summer season (May-October). They offer wine tastings throughout the day, with about 10 different wines to choose from. They offer traditional honey wines, chardonnay, and - of course - apple wine. The tasting servings are healthy, but the staff don't seem to know much about the wine itself. It's almost as if this was an apple farm that decided to produce wine instead of an actual winery.
