The Old Port in Portland, Maine

The Old Port in Portland, Maine, on the waterfront of the small city is a happening place. Full of cafes, restaurants, specialty stores, gift shops, antique shops, bars, fishermen houses, commercial places to shop, boat supply stores, and everything a busy port needs for its livelihood. I love the smell of the fresh sea air mixed in with the smell of fish and low tides. Seagulls swoop the skies and perch on any handy place looking for handouts and what ever the can scavenge. People of all sorts are rushing around getting ready to go the ferries that take them out to the islands in Casco Bay, or coming back into the mainland that has their cars parked away for the weeks or months. This small city has more character than any other I have ever visited in the states. Culture, history, architecture, museums, high-end stores, antiques, etc. And probably some of the finest eateries in the Eastern Seaboard.
