This 2006 summer, the theme was New France, but keep your eyes pealed as next summer's Quebec City Festival theme is revealed for the annual August festival that transports visitors back in time more than 200 years. Relive life in France in the 400-year-old fortified City only a 3-hour train ride from Montreal. Costume shops will custom tailor a period costume for those that feel like blending in. One way or the other, the streets are alive with 17th century festivities, food, games, crafts and music. Peasants sell their wears while more elite citizens, dressed in their finest, shop and mingle in the town squares. One who speaks fluent French will be delighted to hear an old French accent which is totally lost on those of us who can't speak the language. English is spoken readily for those that have not mastered the French tongue. Plan ahead for your lodging. A quaint bed and breakfast can easily be found within the city walls, or for the more adventurous, seek out the famous Chateau Frontenac which stands regally over the city as if protecing her charge. The shopping is outstanding, the views of the rolling hills with its narrow cobblestone streets will beckon one down and around corner after corner. Churches dot the little city with their steeples reaching high above as if to proudly uphold the little city by the wings of heaven. Quebec City will not only delight you with her European charm, but will also bring history into the present as she proudly boasts rich and diverse historical roots from her European sister -- France. Come one! Come all! Your visit to Quebec City can begin with a simple mouseclick. Visit http://www.quebecregion.com/ today!
