There is a cafe and takeaway food on the island, but it's overpriced, so I would hang out for the 15 minutes back to the mainland for lunch. Victor Harbour has a great family atmosphere and it is a nice place to laze away the day; hence, it is a popular weekend destination. Seafood is the local cuisine, but have a look around--prices differ dramatically from shop to shop. There is a large, open park that is great to just sit in and hang around. Within the town centre, there are lots of little craft and specialty shops. We took the coach from Adelaide to Victor Harbour, and it takes about 2 hours each way, and a YHA discounted return ticket of approx $35. Getting onto Granite Island is free.
