Description
Along Highway 1, in Cambria, CA, lies one part of the California Sea Otter Game Refuge. During our stay in Cambria, we visited the Game Refuge on several occasions, and it proved to be quite an interesting visit. The game refuge was located directly across the street from our hotel.
The California Sea Otter Game Refuge actually runs along the Pacific shoreline from the Carmel River to the north to the Santa Rosa Creek in Saint Luis Obispo to the south.
This game refuge is a way to get a close up view of the sea otter. Although if you get too close, you may be sorry, as we tried, as we climbed on the same rocks that were inhabited by a herd of sea otters. We were also amazed at the size of these creatures, as we viewed them for the first time in this natural surrounding.
If traveling the California Coast, and are not familiar with these animals, a stop here is truly a must.
