He's a 30-foot-tall turtle sitting on a snowmobile right along the highway. There's no way to miss him. The band Yo La Tengo has a photo of him on the cover of their Little Honda album. Apparently a fan sent it to them, but I can't imagine who listens to Yo La Tengo in the middle of North Dakota. It's a mysterious place.

Tommy Turtle has been in Bottineau since the year my sister was born, 1978. Some guy from Idaho built him out of fiberglass and drove him on trailers about 1,000 miles to where he still stands now. It's an incredible sight.
