I offered to weigh this bass for him and measure it but I forgot my scale at home. Therefore, all I could do was measure it for him. The fish measured almost 18 inches long. I am guessing it was over three pounds, since I recently caught a 19 inch one that was 3 pounds, 12 ounces. This young man was elated at his catch. You could tell he wasn’t an everday angler for at least bass. I mean, he used a trout lure for it. I was happy for him in catching this bass.
If anyone I wanted to catch this bass besides us, it would have been him. This was because he appeared to be such a novice and was so excited that he had his girlfriend run quickly over to examine it (and she was located on the side of the lake). After she joined him, they abruptly left with the fish. You need an IL fishing license to fish here.
