Chartlea Park Farm Stay

I thought I would share some information on an absolutely fabulous farm stay we had in New Zealand at Chartlea Park with the MacKenzie family. There were fresh flowers and candy awaiting us in our rooms. There was absolutely stunning food (definitely pay the extra for dinner as you will not be disappointed, and lunch is included in the dinner price). Our first dinner was venison, broccoli salad, green salad, potatoes, hot vegetables, and homemade dessert. Lunches included homemade soup in addition to a full lunch.

The beds were filled with soft comfy comforters, and heated pads to keep them warm. Beautiful plush bathrobes were provided. This is a large, old, historic home full of charm and it is well laid out for privacy. It is loaded with antiques, relics of farm life and period pictures and decorations. The family is warm, humorous, friendly and excellent story tellers. They provided opportunities to participate in farm activities and learn about all aspects of running the farm which is a large sheep, deer and cattle farm. There are pet cats, dogs, sheep and fish! The family is non-smoking which was nice for us since we are non-smokers. I would highly recommend this farm stay and hope to return again sometime. We had originally planned to stay for 2 nights, but expanded it to 3 as we were enjoying ourselves so much!
