This lovely winery is only a 10-minute drive from Carbondale, and well worth the drive. Although southern Illinois is becoming more and more well-known for its local wines, Von Jacob offers some of the tastiest ones around. There's an excellent selection, even for people who don't consider themselves wine drinkers. The atmosphere is casual but beautiful, with seating options inside or on the patio. You can stroll through the vineyard, and they also sell fudge made out of their wine! Talk about divine! They offer a casual lunch option and are open daily until 5:30pm. The employees there are very friendly and really make you feel special, too.
