Also note that you can bargain with the salesmen, especially if you choose to go on more than one excursion. Another tip: don't bring too much because it's a pain to carry stuff around. Here's what I would bring: bathing suit (wear), waterproof shorts, tank top, beach towel, sunscreen, hat, and camera.

The bus stopped at the village of Punta Rusia, where we boarded a small boat and headed out. Before arriving at the island, we went down a river into the mangrove forest looking for manatees, with no luck. We then went to Paradise Island and were greeted with the most amazing turquoise and aqua colored water and powdery white sand. There are a few palapa huts and not much else.
There''s not much to do on the island except relax, tan, drink, and snorkel. In fact, the snorkeling was excellent. Right next to the sandbar is a reef filled with colorful coral formations and tons of fish. Can you believe we ran out of underwater film? Be prepared, because you''ll want to take lots of pictures of this little slice of heaven on Earth.
