Ulucami (the Great Mosque)

The Ulucami of Bursa is one of the great mosques built by the architect Ali Necaer during the reign of Sultan Bayazid I (Ottoman Sultan) between the years 1396 and 1400. Ulucami is both the largest and one of the most striking examples of Ottoman art, which was the early Islamic style. Located in the city center, the mosque has a pool-shaped fountain in the center, two large minarets, and 20 domes resting on 12 square pillars, the central dome being glazed. Ulucami had many restorations due the earthquakes and fires.
