I found riding a bike around the canals and stone pavements surprisingly easily. You can get slightly disorientated at night, but there's a basic grid-type system if you try really hard to imagine it.
You also get to sit upright, as the handlebars are high in comparison to the saddle (gentleman's bike). It was overall an very enjoyable experience. I did get quite cold, as it was May and bright but not particularly warm. Also, the cars are extremely tolerant of bikers (I live in London).
