Sleepy Menton is the sunniest town in the whole of France and grows the most lemons in the entire nation. The fruit is celebrated with a yearly festival every February. Many of the events are free, including a firework display and a carnival through Menton's streets. Entrance to some events, such as the orchid display. are from EUR7. You can reserve tickets from the festival's website or by telephone. Menton is the last stop on the pretty Cote d'Azur line before the Italian border, about 30 minutes from Nice.
