The fort is currently open Friday-Sunday 9am-5pm, while the bridge is undergoing construction. The fort is a cool place to visit, and it's free, learn all about the history of the fort and of the area it protected. It's a great place to explore, especially if you're a kid.

Outside the fort, you can view the underside of the Golden Gate Bridge and the work that's currently being done. There are also benches so that you can admire the views of the bay, the city, and the surfers who are out in the cold water, doing their thing.
