The famous Toy Retailer on Fifth Avenue is a source of wonder and amazement for the entire family. I have shopped there for years and can always find something new and exciting. I love the life size animals which seem to change each season. I can't go with out picking up at least a bag of wonderful candy at the FAO Schweets Shop. Lines outside mark the store at Christmas.

This was an amazing toy store. I'm 19 years old and I enjoyed it! This place is immaculate! It has every toy one could ever think of! I wouldn't advise taking a young child with you unless you're prepared to spend some money! It's definitely something to see.

Picture Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia tap dancing on the larger-than-life piano in BIG, and that''s FAO Schwartz. This is the definitive NYC toy store experience. It''s big, brash and can be expensive, but on our last trip, we got a $27.95 Star Wars toy on sale for $5.00, so go figure! Get there early (just as they open), and you''ll love your visit. Miss the first hour and you will be cheek to cheek with screaming kids and their glum parents. Get there early and visions of sugar plums will dance in your head.

Even though this is under the shopping section, I did not go shopping in FAO Schwarz (unless you count the .35 lbs of candy I bought there). FAO Schwarz is not for shopping. There are other toy stores for that. FAO Schwarz is for goofing off. The giant, 3-story elysian fields for anyone who was ever a child lets customers play around with a lot of merchandise before buying (buying...hahaha...). What are you waiting for? Get on over there and go insane. Even if you don't play with anything, it's mind-boggling to wander around and realize just how damn many things there are to spoil kids with these days.
