The Evergreen Golf Course is located on the southwest side of Evergreen Lake on Upper Bear Creek Road. Although located in Evergreen, the course is owned and managed by Denver Parks and Recreation. The course itself is beautiful, with large pine trees and rolling greens and fairways. Add to that the views of the mountains and the lakes and... well, you get the picture.
One thing that some golfers may find lacking is the absence of any long holes. All the holes are either Par 3 or Par 4, but the challenge of this course lies in the fact that there are many blind holes. As an example, on one particular Par 3 hole, a huge boulder is situated in front of the tee box such that you can’t see the green. Therefore, at the edge of the green, a large bell is mounted on a pole. When a group leaves the green, they ring the bell to let the next group know that it is all clear for them to tee off. The course also offers its own unique obstacles--an occasional deer or elk may get in the way of your shot.
The green fees are relatively inexpensive. At this writing, nine holes cost $12 on Mondays through Thursdays and $14 on weekends and holidays. Cart rentals are $8 and club rentals are $10, regardless of the day. Eighteen holes will cost you $19 on Mondays through Thursdays and $23 on weekends and holidays. Carts rentals for 18 holes are $13 and club rentals are $18. The clubhouse, also known as “Keys on the Green,” is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Both the food and the views are exceptional.
