This cottage used to be in the middle of nowhere in the mid-1800’s when Poe first moved there. This is now a museum dedicated to the writer. It’s an interesting place if you are a fan of Poe, but also a nice stop as it is a slice of history in the Bronx. Supposedly, Poe’s wife Virginia died from TB in the bed on the first floor. Despite the gloom that surrounds the writer, this is now a cute little place for both the curious and the loyal to visit.
To get there, take the subway #4, C or D to Kingsbridge Road.
