This is a castle or palace in the center of Old Copenhagen and is known, not only as home to the royals, but also for its odd and spectacular octagonal shape with marching ground for the royal guards in the center.
One thing to observe there other than the building itself is the change of the guards which is something you expect to be out of the 18th century. But make no mistake, these guards are not purely for show, although they will gladly let you take photos of them; they have a proud history of defending the crown and would lay down their lives to do so again.
It’s a piece of history, not only for Denmark, but for all of Europe that both kids and adults should take the time to see.
