There is a headphone tour that takes you from lavish room to more lavish room. . If you want to have an idea how the wealthy lived 300 years ago you will enjoy this visit very much.
Part of the same building is the Residenz Gallerie, a very fine, small museum with some impressive paintings. They have a beautiful Rembrandt of his mother,in which we see an elderly women in a red hood with her face bathed in that light that Rembrandt does so well. There is a satyr by Rubens that bears an uncanny resemblance to my husband and one of my favorites, Bruegel. More important is the fact that even though most guide books say it is closed in the winter it was open when we were there in January.
