Parking isn't all that great here. Parking is $3.00 with museum admission. Metered parking is also available in the immediate area. I recommend the metered if you can. It only takes about an hour to go through the museum. But if you plan on being there for a while $3.00 isn't so bad I guess. I just want to see it all in the time I have. Metered parking, when available, is cheaper.
I wanted to see Detroit culture first hand so I visited the museum. There is much to Detroit and its past and I am sure some deeper things than you can find in this museum. But it was nice and clean and the history was wonderful. Even if you dont have children this is a wonderful place to go to learn about a large city. They have many perminant exibits like the Streets of Old Detroit and the Glancy Trains, as well as others that rotate through. (list below from the museum site)

There are a good many other things to see in Detroit if you dont want to wait for the reopening. But this is something you should see if you plan on visiting after the reopening date.
