Pretty.. but choppy waves.

I took a walk along this beach early in the morning to take in a perfect view which only nature could create. There were palm fronds waving in the wind, beckoning to me as the salty breeze from the ocean blasted into my face. This was a little bit of true paradise in my opinion.

Condado catered for middle and upper class populace, featuring a large number of luxury hotels, expensive boutiques, casinos and fine dining. Condado began to grow into what it is today by two Americans known as the Behn Brothers in 1908. The neigbourhood experienced substantial economic growth during the early 20th century after several affluent families made the community their home. Since then, Condado became an extremely popular tourist hot spot resulting in exaggerated prices, traffic congestion and large crowds.

There were several beach bathers dotting the shore, most sprawled off on massive beach towels, earphones locked into their ears as they drifted off into a peaceful bliss. The sun was beating down a little too much for my liking so I refrained from doing the same, regardless of how tempting the idea was.

The waves at Condado Beach were far from gentle however. They were as massive armies, charging unto the sand in a loud roar. The seawater foamed tremendously and seemed to bellow at potential swimmers to keep their distance. I duly took note and didn't even entertain the prospect of dipping my toes into the fray.

There were many hotels, restaurants and clubs which were established within close proximity. The area was very modern and unquestionably picturesque with a broad walkway on each side of the main avenue for pedestrians to take in the scenery. There were two miniature parks that I saw during my short stay in Condado. Both drew small crowds to sit on their benches at all hours of the day and night. After eating a late dinner, I passed by one of the said parks around 11:45pm, surprised to see at least a dozen persons walking around. Possibly this was due to the fact that it was February 14th and all the lovers in Condado Beach were looking for the most romantic areas to spend time with their other half.

In addition, the area appeared to be a very safe haven for tourists in San Juan. I saw police cars and security guards all over the avenue, keeping watch and trying to ensure the protection of all. This was particularly comforting, encouraging me to stay out quite late, just wandering around and peering into the windows of brightly lit designer boutiques found along the boulevard.

I had a lovely visit to Condado Beach and I hope to return some day soon.
