Carriage Rides

This really gives you a wonderful overview of the city. The streets are narrow and our horse was tired. This was her 3rd tour of the day and she was getting ready for her dinner but the driver and tour guide John was very patient and he really knew the city, because he has lived there all his life. This was really a lot of fun.

Our guide was spectacularly charming and seemed to know just about every brick on the street as well as the more common points of interest. He wove a wonderful tale of Charleston history as our horse slowly clip-clopped down the major historical streets, and he was able to answer most of our questions. He was also quiet at certain points in the tour to allow my husband and I the opportunity to enjoy each other's company in the romantic atmosphere of a an open-air buggy. I would like to point out that not only was our guide well-versed in history, the horse that pulled us appeared to be very well-treated and happy. I would highly suggest a carriage ride to anyone with any interest in history at all who is visiting Charleston with a significant other.
