Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

This is your typical zoo, but, we went during Christmas season, and they had the park lit up beautifully (at night).

We fed the giraffes (indoors-it's stinky but well worth the experience!)

This is a lot of walking, and plenty of uphill walking, if you have young kids (even if they generally walk) you might want to bring a stroller or consider renting one. My sons legs got tired quickly.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is great exercise for adults, and the kids love it. Kids will also like the carousel; I wouuld recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Enjoy the unique experience of feeding the giraffes. You can buy a bag of peanuts nearby and have fun watching them eat right out of your hands.
  • WOLF WOODS:
Visit the wolves at their Award Winning mountainside exhibit. If you're lucky, you might get an opportunity to hear them howl!
  • LION'S LAIR:

  • Also, don't forget to visit the Will Rogers Shrine. You can take a scenic drive (through the zoo) on Cheyenne Mountain Road. It's only 1.4 miles from the Zoo entrance to this historical monument. While you're there, enjoy the spectacular views of Colorado Springs at an elevation of 8,000 feet!!
